OnePlus is planning a big change in its upcoming phone, the OnePlus 13T. The phone may no longer include the alert slider, a feature many fans liked for its simplicity. Instead, it’s expected to come with a new customizable Action Button that can do more than just control sound.
The new button, sometimes called a Shortcut Key, will still let users switch between silent, vibrate, and general sound modes. But unlike the old slider, this button can also be customized to do other tasks. For example, users may be able to open apps, launch the camera, start voice recordings, or use AI features, all with a single press.
Oppo, OnePlus’s sister brand, recently showed a similar feature. It included support for AI tools and voice commands, and OnePlus seems to be taking a similar approach.
OnePlus China President Li Jie recently shared a teaser showing the side of the OnePlus 13T. It reveals the new button and confirms that the phone will have a flat display. This is a change from some previous models that had curved screens.
This design could help with better grip and possibly allow more space inside for other features, like a larger battery.
The OnePlus 13T is rumored to feature a 6.31-inch flat OLED display with 1.5K resolution. It may be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip, also called Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is expected to offer faster performance and better battery efficiency.
Other expected features include:
If confirmed, this would make the OnePlus 13T the first global model from OnePlus to not include the alert slider. While some users might miss the familiar switch, the new button is designed to be more flexible and useful in day-to-day tasks.
The OnePlus 13T does not have an official launch date established but previous release trends indicate it will appear during the middle portion of 2025. Additional OnePlus product information may emerge through official announcements during the upcoming weeks.
